Seating Assessments

Pressure care and postural support for people who sit for hours at a time.

Refer for this

What it is

Assessment of seating and pressure care: cushions, postural supports, tilt and recline, and custom options where standard seating will not do.

What’s involved

  • Pressure injury risk assessed, not assumed
  • Cushion selection matched to that risk and to posture
  • Tilt, recline and custom-moulded options where standard seating fails
  • Assessed against the chair or wheelchair it has to work with
  • Review built in: seating needs change as posture does

Who it’s for

People at risk of pressure injury, and anyone whose posture needs active support to sit safely and comfortably.

Common questions

Why does a cushion need assessing?

Because the wrong one actively causes harm. A cushion that suits one person’s pressure risk can worsen another’s posture, and pressure injuries are far more expensive to treat than to prevent.

Can seating be reviewed if my needs change?

Yes, and it should be. Posture, weight and skin condition all change, and seating that was right two years ago may not be now.

Do you assess for tilt-in-space?

Yes, where pressure relief or postural control needs more than a cushion can give.
