What’s involved
- Vision, cognition and reaction time considered: a scooter shares space with traffic and pedestrians
- Route planning against the trips you actually want to make: kerbs, crossings, footpath surfaces
- Transfers on and off, including carrying shopping
- Storage and charging at home, and whether it can be transported
- Trials on your own routes rather than in a showroom

Older adults and NDIS participants whose walking distance limits getting to the shops, appointments, or anywhere else that matters.

Common questions
What is a gopher?
"Gopher" is a brand name that has become the general Australian word for a small three or four wheeled mobility scooter. We assess all of them, whatever the badge says.
Do I need a licence to use one?
No. But you do need to be able to operate it safely around traffic and pedestrians, and that judgement is what the assessment is for.
What if a scooter turns out not to suit me?
We will say so. Sometimes a powered wheelchair, a walking aid, or a change to transport is the better answer, and it is far cheaper to find that out before the purchase.
Can I try one first?
Yes. Trials are part of the assessment, and we run them on the routes you would actually use.
